Future models
MSI is currently working on a new UMPC that is smaller and thinner than the current version. MSI stated that the next Wind will have similar components (including the Intel Atom processor), but it will be aimed at business customers. The new generation Wind is expected to be on sale in Q1 of 2009.
A desktop Wind PC (Nettop) is also in development.
MSI Wind U90
The internals of a U90x, EU version.
The U90x was released months after the MSI Wind. It is sold in markets such as the EU, Canada and Australia, but with no official announcement for the USA. It comes with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (plus, as usual, a wide variety of other Open Source software) and has an 8.9″ screen. The housing is the same as the U100, which means it has the same almost full-size keyboard (as opposed to for example the first netbook, the eeePC). To house the smaller screen, it is fitted in a bezel. Another difference is that, standard, it comes with a 3-cell battery, instead of the 6-cell for the U100. This, plus the smaller screen and the Open Source Operating System, makes it considerably cheaper than the U100. The EU price is around 270 (November 2008).

Hacking
The MSI Wind netbooks (specifically the MSI Wind U100) have been subject to hacking especially as hackintosh’s. Though many other netbooks can also be installed with Mac OSX, the MSI Wind is one of the most popular mainly because of its ideally large keyboard, simple design, and wide availability of options. Currently the MSI Wind (specifically the U100) can be installed with the latest Mac OSX 10.6.2 with a modified bootloader.
